This is probably one of my favorite places for Happy Hour in Philly. For a buck an oyster, you can’t beat that and I’m totally crazy for oyster. I could eat like 3 dozens of these suckers alone. Their oyster shooter priced at $3 each shot is worth the try. It can be a little strong; I think if I have 2 of these, I will be good – I don’t do too well with tequila. The Kensinger beer is priced at $3 a pint which goes very well with my oyster. They open it right in front of you – so you know it is definitely FRESH. There is no fishy smell and I normally do not find any shell in it.
Aside from the oyster, I also try the fried calamari ($9), raw clam, smoked blue fish salad, and lobster from the raw bar menu. The calamari is very crispy and fresh. The clam is just like the oyster, very tasty and fresh. The smoked blue fish ($7) served with chickpeas, shaved celery, lemon is just as delicious – good with the oyster shooter
; I definitely taste the smokey flavor of the fish. The only thing I didn’t like was the 1/2 chilled lobster priced at $18 from the raw menu. My friend got it for us and thought it was raw lobster – it’s basically just cooked lobster chilled in ice. It’s not good at all and I definitely felt overpaid for this.
The atmosphere and service of this place is wonderful. It had very nice décor and the bartender is very attentive. I always go here during happy hour and it always crowded – if you show here after 6pm – it’s hard to find a seat around the bar or the oyster bar.
