I decided to get back into the gym routine. I hate the winter. It’s so cold and the sun doesn’t rise until about 7AM. This morning, I dragged myself to the gym even though I was so exhausted. I need a Red Bull to get me up and get going. As I was about to grab a Red Bull from the gym’s fridge, I notice another Energy drink called SPIKE shooter – so I grab that drink to test it out. The Spike Shooter is pretty sweet and it goes down easy. It has an orangey flavor. As soon as I drink, I felt so hype filled with so much energy – got a feeling that I can do anything. After being on the elliptical for 10 minutes and then lifting weight for about 20 minutes, I start to really feel nausea and bloated, like I have to vomit. I continue my workout until I can’t take it anymore – which is about 15 minutes later. When I got home from the gym, I threw up. It’s been 4 hours now and I’m still feeling nausea and jittery. I wish I never drink this. My advice is really read more [...]

Ultimo is a great spot. I really love the vibe of this place. It has a simple, rustic, and clean design. I actually grew up in this area, across from the coffee shop. It used to be a corner grocery store many years ago and then it’s closed for many years, until it’s renovated and became a coffee shop about 2 years ago. This great spot is what looks to be an up and coming section of South Philly. I love the relaxed atmosphere of the place and how they are selling both coffee and beer. They have wide selection of hand brewed coffee and craft beers that you can choose from. And of top of that, the staff is really helpful and nice. During warm weather, they have the big window open and you can sit outside drinking cold coffee or a cold craft beer while chatting with friends. In the winter, it has a warm and cozy feeling – they even play Christmas music during the Holiday. You can sips on mulled spice cider or a cup of hot chocolate, while working or meeting with friends. In fact, this is what I’m currently doing now. I have been [...]

This year Christmas Village is in Love Park instead of City Hall. My guess is that the Occupy is taken over that area, so the city can’t do it there. I finally had the chance to visit the place. I visit there both day and night time. It’s a wonderful place. I’m glad that the city have this ever year. It’s a great way to bring the Holiday Spirit into Philly. There are many traditional European’s food booths at Christmas Village Philadelphia, from bratwurst to goulash soup to strudel to crepe. I had a bratwurst ($6) and it was very good. It goes along with the beer that I have – Spaten Oktobofest. They offer 3 type of German beer there and priced at $4 each is fine with me. They also have Gluhwine (mulled wine) from Chaddsford with two types of Holiday flavor – Apple Spice and Holiday Cheer. I so love the Apple Spice – the warm wine and the apple spice flavor put me in a joyful holiday mood. The Holiday Cheer is just as good; it’s a little sweeter then the Apple Spice. As for shopping, there are tons of unique holiday gifts and ornaments. This [...]

Nan Zhou or Yummy Lan Zhou? What is the difference? I was recently introduced to hand drawn noodles while eating sancocho at a Venezuela restaurant. (Sancocho was good – I will talk more about that experience on another post). The owner of the restaurant and I have a mini conversation regarding food. He see that I’m into soup, so he told me about the Hand drawn noodle soup restaurant in Chinatown. I can’t believe living here all these years and I never heard about it. Apparently, there are only two restaurants in Chinatown that serve these type of noodle soup. One is called “Nan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle” located on 9th and Race. The other is called “Yummy Lan Zhou Hand Drawn Noodle House” located on 10th and Race. They both make their noodles right on the spot. I try both of these places during my lunch break. Both places offered two types of noodles to choose from – hand drawn and shaved and you can select from a wide varieties of soup type – from Fishball, seafood, beef brisket, oxtails, lamb to ox stomach to tendon. Those are just a few that I listed. Click Here to view full menu [...]
